Reedy’s 2018 football season started on August 31 at the Clark stadium

. After last year’s major successes, everyone is excited to see what the new and improved team can bring this season.

This is Reedy’s second year to have a senior varsity team, giving them more of an advantage from the other new teams they’re playing this season.

“We do now have more experience, which sometimes is the greatest teacher. That’s sometimes dangerous, because we could become very overconfident quickly,” Coach Chad Cole said. “We’re going into a different district, so that’s also scary. It’s a little nerve racking, but if we play our potential we could have some real success this year”

With more players this season, coaches have to adjust their teaching style to account for more kids.

“As a coaching staff, get every ounce of athletic excellence. Our job is to make our team as good as it can be, hold our kids to the highest expectation possible,” Cole said. “Just making sure they understand and work as hard as they can because this thing happens really fast and we don’t want them to have any regrets after it’s over.”

While coaches are prepping for the new season, players are also preparing and reflecting from past seasons.

“I can add a leadership role, really just help my teammates out,” freshman wide-receiver  Alex Bar said. “That’s the main reason why I love football so much, to be with and support all of my teammates throughout the season.”

The new season is getting lots of players excited, senior quarterback Cooper Wilson adds “playing with all of my friends makes me really excited, there is nothing better than doing just that.

Reedy’s highly anticipated first homecoming game is Sept. 21 against Denison at the Ford center and the next upcoming game is Sept. 6 at the Ford Center against The Colony. So come and support your varsity team!
