As a new school year starts, new beginnings are on the rise at Reedy high school. Mr. Max Smith is one of the newest Assistant Principals, and he is in no doubt, a special one. He just joined this summer, and is excited to see what he can bring to the school’s atmosphere.

“I’ve always had a passion for learning and leadership,” Smith said. “I’ve always liked school and really improving myself. I’m actually quite hard on myself but I’m very interested in education.”

Smith says that he can bring something different to the school, a new and different personality.

“I think I can relate to the kids, the students. I used to be a ex-coach, football and wrestling coach, so I have some professional experience,” Smith said. “My leadership style is treating everyone equal, I like to hear the students opinions and their voices in the school.”

Smith has alway found Frisco ISD to be appealing, with the huge population of students and the exciting competition between schools.

“I’ve always been interested in Frisco ISD, and Reedy really stuck out to me because of the tradition that we’re building here from the ground up,” Smith said “I’ve always wanted to be a part of something this big.”

As for himself, Smith was an extremely athletic and academic student in his high school years.

“In high school, I did student council and NHS,” Smith said. “I played football, soccer, wrestled and track. I played in the band for a little bit too.”

This school year, Smith is looking forward to “getting to know all the students and making them successful.”

“I like to stand out front and say hello and good morning to everyone that comes through the building,” Smith said. “It’s really just to get to know the kids and build relationships, that’s really big to me.”
