According to TIME magazine, Frisco is ranked number one in the top 10 best places to live in the US. Since most of the Frisco community lives picture perfect suburban lives, it’s easy to forget that there are still many in need in the community.

The school is teaming up with an organization to help give back to the city. The National Honor Society, NHS, raised money for Frisco FastPacs and presented them with the check on November 5 to help provide meals for students in the community who are in need.

“We raised $3,087,” NHS sponsor, Mrs. Munro said. “That would be enough to feed ten kids for the entire school year, so we basically raised enough money to feed all of the kids at Reedy on the list.”

Frisco FastPacs is an organization that delivers meals to kids to eat when school isn’t in session. NHS accepted cash donations, which will be used to purchase meals for the various 800 kids that the organization serves.

“Heather Canturbery is a representative from Frisco FastPacs, and she thought we were going to raise around $500,” Munro said. “We beyond shocked them. We’ve been promised priority for students on the waitlist at Reedy because we’ve raised more than enough.”

Frisco FastPacs began in 2013, and has been working since to complete their mission of ensuring that no child goes hungry. Volunteers can help by hosting food drives, picking up groceries, or assembling meals.

“This is the first year we did this,” Munro said. “This hit home because that money is benefiting students here. Frisco Fastpacs is an organization that is desperately needed because they help kids here in Frisco, so I am hoping that the officers want to keep doing it.”
