The Fall Season
What Makes You Feel Cozy?
December 19, 2020
The Oxford Dictionary defines cozy as “giving a feeling of comfort, warmth, and relaxation,” and with the chaos of 2020, that feeling is surely needed. I wondered what students around Frisco ISD did to capture that feeling, and so this story began.
Fall time is superior to some people; it gives them a comfortable feeling and the excuse to drink countless amounts of hot chocolate.
“During the fall, I feel cozy when I curl up in front of a movie in my pajamas,” junior Riley Jorgenson said. “Especially when it is cold, I like to make some hot chocolate and put on one of my favorite movies.”
Snuggling underneath a blanket is one thing, but watching a holiday classic is another. The two go together like pumpkin and pie!
“My favorite fall movie is It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” Wakeland senior Rachel Reasor said. “It reminds me of going to the pumpkin patch and watching it at my church when I was younger.”
It’s controversial to say if you listen to Christmas music before thanksgiving, but senior Izzy Henry invites the idea, saying she “typically listens to Christmas music because there’s not really any songs that give the fall vibe.”
But others would strongly disagree, like Reasor, who listen to a plethora of albums; some of her favorites are “Folklore and Red by Taylor Swift, Harry Styles’ self-titled album, and Illuminate by Shawn Mendes.”
Baking is another fall classic; whether it’s pumpkin spiced anything or a chai tea cookie, it’s a way to give back to your community.
“I actually really do love to bake,” Jorgenson said. “My favorite thing to bake is probably any type of cookie because they are easy to pass out to family, friends, and neighbors when I make too many.”
Sadly, we are all located in Texas, which is known for its nonexistent winters and dramatically long summers, and that can bring some people’s moods down.
“YES, the texas heat brings my mood down so much,” Reasor said, “I really do wish the trees would change colors!”
What’s so magical about this time of year is the countless amounts of holidays we get to celebrate, and the time we get to spend with our families.
“My favorite holiday during the fall time is Thanksgiving,” Jorgenson said. “Although I am not the biggest fan of the food (shocking, I know), I enjoy sitting around the table with my family and spending quality time with them.”
