Prom is a big part of a high school student’s senior year. Many students gathered to celebrate their senior year in the evening at the Omni Dallas Hotel on Saturday, April 12th. Many were excited for this memorable night.
“I feel like prom is such an important part of the senior experience,” Prom Queen Vanesa Gonzales said. “Getting to be a finalist is very interesting and fun.”
Others have different opinions on being nominated as a finalist.
“Well, it’s pretty cool to be nominated,” Prom King finalist Sailesh Medisetti said. “But I don’t really want to be prom king.”
Nonetheless the finalists this year are working hard to get ready and plan for the big night.
“It’s like 30 people and we’re all going to take pictures right before, and then we’re going to go to this Argentinian Steakhouse that looks really good,” Gonzales said. “After that we are going to the dance.”
Prom is a valuable part of a high school student’s life and it’s important to remind ourselves why.
“I like how our school does it where it’s only senior prom, not junior-senior, so it makes it all the more special,” Prom Queen Finalist Kella Streff said. “I feel like this is the moment that girls especially look forward to in their high school experience.”
While none of the finalists are actively looking to get the title, they still hope to have a good time nonetheless.
“I’m not really looking to actively run for it, you know what I mean?” Streff said. “But I’ll be happy either way and whoever wins, I’ll be super happy for them as well.”
Unlike Proms in the past, this one went a little differently. Prom started at 8pm and the winners of Prom King and Queen were announced at 9pm. The winners were Kella Streff and Cooper Clabo, however they were not present at the Omni Hotel at the time of the announcement. Due to this the title went to the runner-ups, Vanesa Gonzales and Ansel Rosato.
