If you had to pick just one movie to watch on repeat for 24 hours, what would it be? Would you go for a classic, a feel-good favorite, or something packed with action? I asked students at Reedy High School about their movie preferences, and the results were all over the place- but in the best way possible.
Students had a ton of different favorite movies. Some love the classics like, The Sandlot and The Dark Knight, while others prefer fun musicals like Mamma Mia and The Greatest Showman. Then there are the mystery fans who picked Knives Out, and the ones who love a good throwback with Freaky Friday or Little Women (2019).
When it came to the 24-hour movie challenge, the answers got even more interesting. Some students could watch Lego Batman or How to Train Your Dragon 2 on repeat, while others would stick with Mamma Mia or Lemonade Mouth. And then there are the ones who would take on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse or even Groundhog Day (which is ironic, considering the whole repeating thing).
So, what movies should every high schooler watch at least once? A lot of people said 10 Things I Hate About You, Mean Girls, and The Outsiders, and honestly, they’re not wrong. The Sandlot and Freaky Friday also made the list, proving that some movies just never get old.
When it comes to picking a genre, comedy was the top pick for most students, followed by drama and action. Some people couldn’t decide and just said, “it depends on the day,” which, fair enough.
And what about hosting a movie marathon? Surprisingly, a lot of people said no. But for those who would, the ideas were solid, some would binge all three Pitch Perfect movies, others would go for horror films, and a few students would sit through entire sagas like Twilight or The Lord of the Rings.
So, whether you’re into musicals, thrillers, or animated movies, there’s something here for everyone. If you’re planning a movie marathon anytime soon, you might just find your next pick from this list!
