Reedy’s Winter Festival

The students in choir are working hard to prepare for upcoming performances, like the Winter Festival, which is to be performed in the auditorium on Thursday, December 8th.

“There is always work to be done,” choir director Rachel Franklin said. “We are always looking forward to improve our performances.”

A recent performance of the Choir was the Reedy Fall Concert, which was on October 13th. It was a cluster concert with other choirs from middle and elementary schools, and included songs such as “Gloria Deo”, “Keep Your Lamps”, and the grand finale, “It Takes a Whole Village.”

“The Fall concert was really fun,” Junior Andrew Iniguez said. “It was great seeing everyone come together to perform the final song.”

Since it is a fine arts credit, this class will look good on a college application.

“It makes you more well-rounded,” Freshman Maanasa Epuri said. “And you have a lot of extracurricular activities.”
Choir prepare for performances everyday. They use vocal and other techniques to make sure that they sound their best.

“We practice good posture, proper breathing technique, proper vocal tone, blended sound,” Mrs. Franklin said. “And we work through each piece of music.”

Every performance is very important to the choir. In the Winter Concert, the choir, along with other fine art departments, will perform fun Christmas songs, such as a jazz version of “Let it Snow” and the classic “Carol of the Bells.” There will even be small performances from the theatre department and the dance team.

“The winter concert will be a blend of all the various Fine Arts groups, which sounds very exciting.” Iniguez said. “I simply cannot wait for everyone to see it.”
