The Reedy chapter of National Honor Society (NHS) had their first meeting on October 7, 2025. NHS is a club that builds leadership skills in students through community service efforts.
At the meeting, NHS leaders discussed the core values and what they expect from their members for the upcoming year
“I want our NHS students to really be seen as leaders in our school,” sponsor Staci Rogers said “They should uphold the utmost standards and really be mentors among our campus.”
NHS advisors hope to guide members to the best version of themselves, and use their leadership skills to encourage others. These are areas incoming members are hoping to grow in.
“I hope to gain leadership experience and a chance to learn about what is going on in our community,” first-year member Nivedana Stephen said.
NHS members find that a lot can be learned through serving others, like the problems in our communities and serving can help make people aware of those issues. Other members believe being involved in service can make a positive impact.
“Getting students involved in community service not only fulfills other people’s lives but it fulfills your own, making a difference in the world,” NHS president Scarlett Sweckard said.
